The British Ambassador required a new residence in central Baghdad within the Embassy compound while staff and employees were in need of additional outlying buildings for both living and working. Accommodation blocks were extended and renovated, a new visa building was constructed and the main entrance was upgraded, while other housing units were completely relocated. During the building process the power and water supply was upgraded and new storm drainage installed. Miscellaneous security works were completed to improve on the safety of the compound, including the upgrade of the full perimeter fence.
